About Us

Nice to meet you, I'm Chris, the host of the Homestead Nelson...

I have returned to New Zealand and the beautiful Nelson region after twenty five years of working overseas. I am a former humanitarian worker and qualified nurse.  I have mainly worked in the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific; I have had many wonderful adventures which I cherish and can share with you over a tea or coffee, or even dinner if you would like to dine in.

I am offering my home as a stepping stone for my guests to explore the many rivers, bays and mountains, the beaches and walking tracks which abound in this region. I am able to help you make the best choices for your holiday whether this is as an individual or a group.

My guests will find me a warm and welcoming host; I do everything to ensure that your stay with me is a wonderful experience.

I am pet friendly have a safe well enclosed back yard,  I myself have two lovely Cocker Spaniels, Pippa and Boswell, who keep me fit and healthy.

I am a keen hiker, I love cooking and eating and in my spare time I am writing a novel.  Now that I have finished full time work I am just starting to explore the creative side of me.  I am learning to paint portraiture - you can see my creations popping up around the house.  I can even arrange an art class for any guests who are interested

After years of witnessing wars, tsunamis, famine, hurricanes, outbreaks of disease and earthquakes, I am simply loving the rich tranquillity and peace and the gentle pleasures of life which abound in this area.
